In this post, I'd like to briefly telling about the job sites that are commonly used in Germany for those who want to move to Germany.

 

First of all, many german companies maintain a sort of 'company-specific employment website' and database for each. so, If you are highly self motivated and interested in moving in Germany, I highly encourage you to check the 'carrier or Karriere' section of those websites.

In addition, you may be in contact with many headhunters in Europe, mainly in the UK or Scotland located, and of course this could take the offer from them.

But, IMHO, I ask you to take this as 'back-up' only. 

 

There are many companies that specialize in headhunting in Germany Europe and there are a lot of job postings from them on the jobsites that I am going to introduce.

For me, I do not highly recommend those companies and encourage you to avoide them as much as possible. I will openly speaks about some bad cases and some things to watch out if I have a chance later.

It's a sensitive to deal with, so it's a little difficult to write everything here.

Next, let me briefly introduce some of the leading job sites. Since I was an engineer, I only looked at job sites that I thought would be helpful from an engineer's point of view.

How to search is very similar to any job site. This job site 'Stepstone' is one of the companies' preferred job posting sites and one of the leading job sites used by many leading German companies. In my opinion, mid-sized companies rather than small companies or headhunters seem to use it a lot when posting jobs directly.

As an example, I have captured a screenshot in German, but you can change the language to English of course.

One of the strengths of this job site 'Stepstone' is that each time you see one, another similar job is shown below accordingly, which is sometimes helpful. If you use it well, you will be able to check the job posting that you did not find before or miss by mistake.

Next is so called 'Simplyhired'.

As far as I know, this job site 'SimplyHired' is a bit challenging to use for expat as job postings are only in german, but sometimes there are notices that are not posted on other job sites.

You may want to get information from this job site 'Simplyhired' and get relevant information in English elsewhere.

 

 

3. Job Site in Germany
: Glassdoor (www.glassdoor.com, www.glassdoor.de)

This job site called 'glassdoor' is similar in function to other job sites described above, but you can easily identify new job postings by letting you know when the job posting was posted (new job posting comes first in the line). 

In addition to job postings, you will also find useful information about company reviews and annual salaries. This is, I would say, huge benefit you must check if you are not familiar with companies in the posting. 
At the top of the main menu, you will find the relevant items along with the job posting section.

 

 

4. Job Site in Germany
: Indeed (https://www.indeed.com, de.indeed.com/)

This job site 'indeed' is something I've never used, but it seems to be the most popular place in the world, especially in the US. If you are looking for a job in Germany as well as in the world, you might want to refer to it.

 

 

5. Job Site in Germany
: Experteer (https://www.experteer.de/)

The last job site I'll introduce is Experteer.

This job site 'Experteer' is differentiated by emphasizing a little professionalism compared to other job sites. Mostly, senior level or manager level job postings, not junior level, are mainly used.

So, if you think you are deserved to get a higher level of job, I do highly recommend you to use this job site definitely.
